Thanks to everyone who participated in the First Annual Conestoga Photo Contest.  Below are the winning photographs.
Best Location Photo Winner
Submitted by Patrick C., Newfane, Vermont

Conestoga Log Cabins are built in some of the most beautiful locations! Our cabins are found perched high atop mountain peaks and secluded in hidden valleys, they’re built on Midwestern prairies and on coastal beaches. We often receive images from Conestoga cabin owners of their own piece of paradise.

The winning entry for best location was sent in from an owner who built his cabin in the lovely Connecticut River Valley. The Connecticut River is New England’s longest and most powerful river and the valley boasts a rich history of colonial settlement villages among fields and forests.

Situated in southeastern Vermont, this 600 sq. ft. Vacationer cabin is nestled on 5 acres of untainted New England forest land. Patrick’s Conestoga log cabin is built only 50 yards from a babbling brook, which provides a calming family retreat with year round recreational opportunities.

Patrick said of his experience with building his Conestoga cabin: “The cabin was a great project as it transformed into a home site an already beautiful location. It allowed me to hone some existing skills and develop some new ones. As each phase was completed it was exciting to move on to the next challenge. The work was satisfying and allowed me to spend quality time with family members that helped with the project. We have bonded with the cabin and are now planning to move in full time.”

Hemlock Haven is conveniently located within 5 minutes of US Rt. 19 but the cabins sit in on 26 acres of secluded wilderness in Fayette County. Guests enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities including rock climbing, hiking and white water rafting on the exhilarating runs in the famed New River.

Cynthia says about Conestoga Log Cabins, “CLC truly exceeded my expectations. The quality and beauty was more than expected. We had a crew of guys unfamiliar with the product and they were amazed with the ease of construction. Guests absolutely love our cabins! We will be expanding in the future and a Conestoga cabin will be the only cabin that we would even consider purchasing again.”

Best Human Interest Photo Winner
Submitted by Pepper P., Phippsburg, Maine

We’ve seen lots of pictures of people hard at work or hard at play, but this was the first one we’ve seen showing two hard-working, hard-playing guys conked out in a Conestoga cabin. Our log cabins are associated with all kinds of activity: hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, chopping firewood, cooking out, star-gazing… and now we have to include napping!

Pepper submitted this image taken of two hard-working guys caught napping. We think it perfectly captures a sometimes forgotten reward of cabin life: the freedom to nap in peace and quiet after a day full of activity.

Pepper had his Sequoia Conestoga cabin built in Fall 2005. The cabin is located on a 7 acre wooded parcel near the Bar Harbor area and Maine’s beautiful coastline. He told us, “We open the cabin every year on Memorial Day weekend and enjoy the cabin for a 2 to 3 week vacation and also on weekends. Everyone who uses the cabin enjoys it. It’s a great place to relax and unwind.“ His picture is proof-positive!
